Board-Certified Dentist Anesthesiologists represent the highest level of training, experience, knowledge and skill that can be achieved in anesthesiology for dentistry.
In order to achieve board certification status, dentist anesthesiologists must successfully complete a CODA accredited residency program, a comprehensive written examination, a minimum of twelve months clinical practice, and an oral board examination. Additionally, diplomates must recertify every six years by completing a Maintenance of Certification Program and 96 hours of continuing education specifically in the field of anesthesiology.
Board certification awarded by the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology (ADBA) is the highest anesthesia credential achievable in dentistry as recognized by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards (NCRDSCB), the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and the American Dental Association (ADA).
